The COST STReESS concept, methodological advances and research results and future research plans achieved during our Action were presented in an appealing way during our interactive outreach event on April 14, 2016 to stakeholders from science, education, practice and society as well as to the broader public, including forestry students and press.
During this interactive outreach event visitors were lead through a pathway which allowed them to see new measurement techniques (tomograph to actually dive into the wood of trees and see the inside of a tree stem; mobile NMRi equipment showing water flow in living trees; TreeWatch and its twittering tree network). Moreover we had popular posters, quizzes, discussion tables to interact with visitors.
The event -and especially the twittering tree- gained ample media attention (German television, radio, journalists). In combination with a press conference in Berlin city it resulted in more than 100 news items, preferably in Germany (see selection in media list below).
